In preparation of this semester’s Investors’ Day, we heard your concerns about what to expect when raising money from Angel investors or VC funds and decided this could be a great opportunity to organise a Masterclass on the basics of this.

For this talk, we have invited EA Alumni who raised money for their startups and Angel Investors and VC Fund representatives that invested in them, so you can get a 360 perspective of the process of first money raised.

Eduard Burghelia

Being one of the most active teenagers in Romania helped me become a very goal-oriented and visionary person. I launched my first real business when I was only 16 years old, selling B2B services to corporations, public institutions and lawyers.

My social involvement was also strong, representing 110.000 high school students for two years. My team and I have fought with the members of the parliament and of the government for students’ rights. We obtained multiple law changes and financial benefits of more than 500.000 EUR per annum, being featured in Financial Times and NRC Handelsblad.

I’m 25 and I’m the founder of Confidas, an online platform that provides comprehensive credit reports on all the Romanian companies and the people who run them. We help companies get paid on time. Confidas is backed by 4 awesome investors.

Iulian Cîrciumaru

7 years of strategy consulting in CEE; co-founded a startup in 2011, made the exit in 2016-2019; co-founded a start-up studio (a “meta-venture capital” firm) in 2016, invested and involved in a few startups and non-profit projects.

Dragoș Nicolaescu

I use my +25 years of management, business and investment roles to provide coaching, advising and investing services. In the last 10 years, I coached +200 executives to become better leaders, advised +250 founders to create a successful startup, and invested in +70 local and international startups. To better serve my clients, I enhanced my business skills with formal studies in psychotherapy and coaching. Every year, I offer +100 hours of mentoring and coaching in most of Romania’s pre-acceleration and acceleration programs. I have extensive experience in strategy, management, and growth, areas of critical importance for startup founders. I am a huge fan of anime, science fiction, and board games.

Monica Stătescu

Monica is a Corporate and M&A partner at Filip & Company. Her primary practice areas are corporate and M&A, capital markets, and intellectual property. Her background includes diverse experience in other areas, such as privatizations and energy. Monica has advised on some of the most significant M&A and capital markets transactions in Romania in the past years, as well as on complex software development and licensing agreements.
